Vegan Black Puddings
All the versatility of black pudding, but, unbelievably, it’s plant-based. Our vegan black pudding comes in a handy sausage shape, so cut it into 15mm slices and fry it in a bit of oil for a short time, making sure to keep it soft and moist. It’s herby and spicy, has a great course texture, and is perfect in vegan starters or canapes. Our Chef has used them in a showstopping plant-based King 'Oyster Scallops' recipe - check it out on Seed-bank.
This vegan black pudding has all the same flavours as it's pork alternative; oats, barley, white pepper and mace but none of the meat. Once opened keep wrapped in the fridge and use within 3 days.
Cooking instructions: Remove plastic sleeving, cut into 15mm slices and heat thoroughly as per the instructions below:
- Add a tablespoon of oil to frying pan and pre heat over a gentle heat. Add black pudding slices and fry over a medium heat for 4 minutes turning once.
- Brush lightly with oil and place under a pre heated medium to hot grill and cook for 6 minutes, turning once.
- If you prefer thicker slices the cooking times will need to be adjusted accordingly.
- All appliances vary these are guidelines only. Ensure product is thoroughly cooked and piping hot throughout before serving.
